I’m sick of hearing people say, “I can disagree with my friends and still be friends.” I hear that a lot down here where I live, and it’s infuriating.
Yes, Dave, you can disagree with your friends’ views on movies, music, food, TV shows, and other things in which a difference of opinion doesn’t infringe on other people. But if you “disagree” with a certain group of people having the same rights as you, that it’s okay to put children in cages and remove them from their parents because they crossed an imaginary barrier, or think some types people simply don’t exist because you either don’t understand them or are offended by their presence, then we have a fundamental difference in thinking and I cannot respect you as a human being, much less as a friend.
We’re not friends anymore. And it’s not because of a difference of opinion, it’s a difference of compassion.
